MLW invites applications from candidates who want to apply for the Commonwealth Scholarship 2023 through Wellcome as Nominating Agency.
Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Program -MLW invites applications for the pre-screening of candidates for the Wellcome as a Nominating agency for the 2023/24 Commonwealth Scholarship. The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) is one of the largest international scholarship schemes in the world. Since 1960, the CSC has funded over 30,000 individuals to study in the UK, gain skills, acquire knowledge, and build networks to tackle global development challenges. The CSC awards over 800 scholarships and fellowships for postgraduate study and professional development to Commonwealth citizens annually.
The Wellcome, in its capacity as a nominating agency in the UK, has invited MLW to propose MLW-supported applicants for the 2023/24 CSC Masters and PhD scholarships. To screen eligible candidates, the MLW Training and Development Committee invites interested candidates to submit their proposed CSC applications for internal MLW review.

MLW Pre-Screening Dates
1. Candidates intending to apply for the 2023/2024 CSC Scholarships should express interest through training@mlw.mw by August 22nd.
2. Candidates, who have support from an MLW or KUHeS-linked senior scientist, must submit their application to the MLW Training and Development Committee by 20th September 2023 for internal MLW screening via training@mlw.mw
3. Interviews will take place in the week of the 25th – 29th September 2023
4. MLW will announce the eligible candidates they will support to apply via the Wellcome and other nominating agencies on 6th October 2023 latest.
CSC Submission Dates
The CSC is open for applications between 05 September 2023 and 17 October 2023. Note that candidates can apply to multiple nominating agencies in the same round and are encouraged to do so.

Candidates must apply using the CSC’s online application system, which can be found on the CSC website. Each scholarship has a ‘How to apply’ section which will have information and guidance on the application process and the link to the online application system.
The CSC is unable to accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system or after the closing date listed above.
