Dr. Augustine Choko is a Research Fellow based at Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme (MLW). He received his PhD and MSc in Epidemiology from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)
In 2010 Augustine led the implementation of the first ever population-based evaluation of HIV self-testing (HIVST) in Malawi under the mentorship of Prof Liz Corbett of MLW & LSHTM. This work has shaped the world debate, funding and large-scale evaluation of HIVST in Africa and beyond.
Currently, he is the lead researcher in a study called “Creating demand for fishermen’s Schistosomiasis and HIV Services (FISH)” which is located in the lakeshore district of Mangochi.
