Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme on Thursday, December 1st, 2022 joined the national World Aids Day celebrations that took place at Mpemba Veterinary Ground in Blantyre.
The Minister of Health Honourable Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda MP graced the commemorations and later launched the revised National HIV and AIDS Policy that will run from 2022 to 2027.
Hon. Chiponda said the new policy pays specific attention to addressing the rising risks of contracting HIV and AIDS among youths.
“The government has allocated almost 170 million Kwacha towards procurement of Ant retrovirus drugs(ARTs), this clearly underscores our commitment towards defeating the disease, it is the responsibility of each sector to do its part,” said Chiponda.
MLW’s Occupational Health Nurse Stephen Amos said the event accorded MLW an opportunity to exhibit its research work and its HIV Workplace Policy.
Amos added, “The event helped us to appreciate what our colleagues are doing, interact and learn from each other. It was worthy attending.”
The 2022’s World AIDS Day commemorations have taken place under the theme Equitable Access to Quality HIV Services for All.“
