In an effort to address some of the biological questions in bioinformatics, the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust  Clinical Research Programme (MLW) recently hosted a 5-day Working with the Human Genome Sequence course focused on the application of bioinformatics tools to understand the human genome.

The course registered 24 participants from Malawi, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, Togo, Egypt and South Africa.

According to Operational Support Officer for Wellcome Trust Advanced Courses, Heidi Hauser, the hands-on training in using databases and web-based analysis tools will be invaluable and it’s hoped that the participants would share the experience with research groups back home.
