Procurement Officer Micheal Chimaliro has completed a bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Logistics Management at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).

The programme covered useful areas for his function such as ethical sourcing, contract law, and compliance, which will enable him to make ethical decisions in his work and stay updated on industry trends in Procurement and Logistics. Chimaliro has been equipped with specialised knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and logistics, which will allow him to make informed decisions, and improve and optimize systems and processes.

The techniques for cost reduction and efficient strategies that Chimaliro has learned will help him in negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.

The knowledge gained will contribute to the department’s objective of strategic sourcing, and risk management for efficiency and effectiveness.

“I have gained skills in negotiation with suppliers to secure the best terms and prices which I will use to analyze and negotiate contracts, ensuring favorable terms for the organization. The market research and cost management skills will make me aware of market trends and have a deeper understanding of cost structures. I am grateful to the MLW Training and Development Committee for this award as this experience will contribute to my effectiveness in my role,” said Chimaliro.
