Men’s Health Week Ideal for Improving Male Employees’ Health

On 17 June 2022, Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) Sports Complex turned into a centre of attraction for Malawi Liverpool Wellcome (MLW) Programme male employees as they participated in Men’s Health Celebrations.

The celebration day was the highlight of the MLW Men’s Health Week held as part of the International Men’s Health Week which took place from 13 to 19 June.

According to MLW’s Occupational Health Nurse Stephen Amos, the aim of MLW’s Health Men’s Health Week was to raise awareness of preventable health problems and to encourage male employees and partners to adopt healthy lifestyles.

“The celebration was a success and I thank all male employees for patronising activities that were taking place during Men’s Health Week. I would also like to extend the same gratitude to women for showing interest and sharing their various perspectives of men’s health,” said Amos.

Prior to the celebration day, men were encouraged to join a Dry Week Challenge – a week free of drinking and smoking; and to participate in health discussions focused on reducing the suicide rate amongst men.
