The Communications and Public Engagement Department conducted a field workers’ training from 7 to 11 February 2022. The training was aimed to upskill field workers in readiness for the Typhoid Vaccine (TYVAC) Study census. The training was attended by 40 field workers at Malaria Alert Centre premises in Blantyre under the facilitation of Communication and Public Engagement, Human Resources, and IT Departments.
This TYVAC census will be the first of its kind with hope for a repeat census every 2 years. Starting in the month of February, the census and is expected to run for 3-5 months depending on field work progress. Soon after the piloting census, the main census will roll out.
Some of the activities which the field workers took part in were math quizzes, discussions on issues of ethical dilemma and principles and other ice breakers which Chimwemwe Mwachilira, one of the fieldworkers, explained as fun and enlightening.
“Being able to realise that I have the skills and knowledge to deliver excellently as a field worker, and learning how to use the skills properly, along with the ethical principles that we have learnt during the training, is very precious,” said Shalom.
