Doreen Sakala, a Social Science researcher who joined MLW in 2015, has been awarded an AMETHIST consortium three-year Ph.D. scholarship in Global Health registered at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). She will be investigating the role of social media as a form of social capital in transactions into and out of sex work in urban Blantyre, Malawi, and will be supervised by Dr. Nicola Desmond based at LSTM and Dr. Wezzie Lora and Dr. Moses Kumwenda who are based at MLW.
Doreen is full of excitement and had this to say, “I am really excited for this opportunity, and I look forward to learning a lot from it.”
