Funding Body
National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) through the International Multidisciplinary Programme to Address Lung Health and TB in Africa programme (IMPALA). Additional funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC) through the Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease (BOLD) consortium.
Project Description
Chronic respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma are the third leading cause of non-communicable disease deaths globally. A majority of afflictions of chronic respiratory disease mortality and morbidity is in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). My research combines epidemiological and econometric modelling methods with an aim of assessing the socio-economic and health impact of scaling up key lung health interventions within LMICs health systems so as to manage the impact of chronic respiratory diseases in these settings.
