The mission of the viral Immunology research group is to conduct excellent research that enhances our understanding of human immunity against viral and bacterial pathogens, while training the next generation of LMIC-based biomedical and clinician-scientists. We achieve this through the establishment of cutting-edge laboratory platforms in a LMIC setting, multi-award-winning training programme and vibrant public engagement initiative. Our vision is to be a leading research group in the LMIC for training in mucosal immunology and provision of immunological assays for public health and vaccine testing in Africa.
